I am having lots of fun researching and reviewing for my current and upcoming courses and lectures (yes, I am a dyed in the wool nerd.) One of the topics we explore is Modernity: Art and Ideas, given through UofT/SCS, is the idea of art as expressive force. That means we get to look at amazing works like this woodcut by Edward Munch. Can you believe he did this in 1898?! What a visionary!
Preparing for Great Photographers, which will be presented in March 2022 as part of HotDoc's Curious Minds lecture series, is giving me the opportunity to dig deeper into the lives and works of current and past masters. Peter Henry Emerson is one of the 19th century photographers whose work transcends time. Isn't this lovely?
